Our first "Wild Boar
Degree" was conferred on August 6, 1988,
by Brethren from Rush Kentucky Lodge
#715.
They gave us a start, and we've been
passing these lessons on every year
since! |
ANNUAL WILD BOAR DEGREE DETAILS WILL BE
PROVIDED UPON CONFIRMATION |
We'll post news and all
updates related to the Wild Boar Degree,
along with all the other fun degrees we
follow and attend. This
information will be provided as soon as
it's available here and on Facebook. |
The "Wild Boar
Degree" is a FUN degree conferred each
year on either the 1st or 2nd Saturday
of August.
It's
held at the Proctorville Masonic
Lodge or at a designated outdoor
location. The location, date and
time will be posted upon confirmation
every year.
YOU MUST BE A MASTER MASON TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE DEGREE WORK.
PAST WILD BOARS ARE ALWAYS URGED TO
ATTEND AND JOIN IN.
Our families are invited to join in at
the Lodge, FOLLOWING THE DEGREE WORK,
which includes our brethren yet to have
the degree conferred upon them, along
with their family.
We'll have games for the children with
fun and fellowship for everyone - lunch
with all the same fixings as always. |
*****
This Degree is NOT isolated to
solely
Master Masons from Ohio - to receive the
"Wild Boar Degree"
you simply have to be
a Master Mason in good standing from ANY
Lodge in the World "recognized by the
Grand Lodge of Ohio" (ie. Book of Lodges
Masonic), and there's a "one-time"
initiation fee of
$5.00.
|
This is
NOT an "Official Degree" of Masonry, nor
is it intended to replace or supplant
any Masonic teachings you've received.
It's a fun degree,
within which it's OK to laugh,
"horse around", and have a
little fun. Although, as
Masons we know all Masonic
Rituals and Degrees are
instilled with lessons learned.
The "Wild Boar Degree" is no
different in that respect.
While we are having a little
fun, a good Masonic lesson is
slipped in, and we receive a
little education! However,
the lesson taught in the Wild
Board Degree is one we believe
to be of lasting importance!
We learn the lessons
taught in the "Parable of the
Prodigal Son" and apply these
lessons to our Masonic lives. |

Many of America's great fraternal organizations,
such as the Masons, Shriners, Elks, etc., are
familiar with that age-old query, "Are you a
Turtle?" Sometimes, one sees a
green-shelled turtle lapel pin or tie tac, or
even an auto decal with a grinning turtle,
asking the same question. But what or who
are the Turtles, you ask? The Turtles are
a fraternity that exists in the United States,
as a fun-and-honor group within your Lodge or
Chapter - it's a fun degree. Its honorable
origins go back to the Second World War, on
January 12, 1943 in an English pub, when a group
of fighter pilots formed a semi-secret
fraternity among its squadron's members, and put
prospective candidates for membership through an
initiation. |
 |
|
You
might run into some Turtles
after the Wild Boar Degree, &
they may have time for an
initiation! |
|
The initiation fees
collected at our Annual
Outdoor Lodge are used for
Lodge improvements of
Proctorville Lodge #550,
Free & Accepted Masons
within the Grand Lodge of
Ohio! |
PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO BRING
A LAWN CHAIR & UMBRELLA,
IF HELD OUTDOORS - stumps are limited,
and even
if it doesn't rain, a little portable
shade can come in handy! If you'd
like to donate saved "soda
pop tabs" to the "Shriner's
Hospital Burn Unit for
Children" in Cincinnati,
Ohio, we'll have buckets
available by the tent. Check back
here from time to time for possible
updates! |
